Skennen'kó:wa Gathering
September 18 | Old Port of Montréal
📍 Green Space across from the Montréal Science Centre
More than 300 years ago, over 1,300 Indigenous leaders and representatives from more than 39 Nations gathered on these very lands to establish the Great Peace of Montreal of 1701-a historic agreement rooted in peace, diplomacy, and coexistence.
This September, we invite you to return to these lands and experience what peace looks like through Indigenous ways of knowing.
-Taste traditional foods
-Watch Black Ash basket weaving demonstrations
-Discover herbs and medicines that support peace and wellbeing
-Add your voice to our Community Beaded Loom belt
-Experience powerful Smoke Dance and Social Dance exhibitions
-Learn about the Great Peace of 1701 through stories, teachings, and culture
This gathering is a living expression of skén:nen (peace), reminding us that peace is something we practice, share, and pass on to future generations.
✨ Tell your relatives. Bring your family. Invite your friends. Help us bring a vibrant Indigenous presence back to the lands where our ancestors gathered in unity and peace.
