Workshops for skaters who have already learnt the fundamentals and wish to continue learning
These sessions are designed to help you progress on your roller skating journey, by introducing new skill and practising and refining skills you already have.
This session will focus on the following Skill (we may also cover other skills in addition to the main focus):

09/06/24 - All the jumping! Learn to jump safely and improve your jumping technique
23/06/24 - Let's skate in a train formation and in 2s and 3s - a perfect session to make new friends or bring a skate mate to
07/07/24 - It's all about the backwards baby! Get groovier, smoother, faster and work on those backwards crossovers
21/07/24 - Transitions and turning around - we know a lot of ways of turning around! Let us share some of these with you so you can choose a way to turn in every situation.
04/08/24 - Crossover technique to get to moving faster than you go now - forwards and maybe backwards! This workshop is intended to give you more confidence to join in with the speed skate at Friday Night Social.
18/08/24 - Bringing the summer festival vibes, learn tricks and play with streamers and poi on skates
To get the most from this session, we suggest you can already:
roll forwards and lemon / bubble
starting to roll backwards
can stop with some control
can fall safely
starting to turn
General things to remember
The ability level for this class is very very wide, we will help you identify your next steps for progression.
Emphasis in this class is on good technique
Growth mindset in our skaters is encouraged - this class is designed to push you out of your comfort zone, however all exercises are optional.
Many of these skills will likely take months or years to perform confidently on a range of surfaces and from high speed - this class gives you the opportunity to practise with coaching support.
While we would love you to take part in the whole session, our approach is person-centred. That means you do what feels safe for you.

What size hire skates do I need?
We recommend you ask for your regular shoe size. If you try skates on and they're not right for you, we are happy to swap them. Our skate hire is available in full sizes only, from UK 3 - UK 15. You no longer need to book a specific ticket to tell us what size you require.
I have a Skate Pass, do I still need to book?
Yes, please still book your spot, and have your digital Skate Pass ready to show at check-in. Please remember that if you are not able to make it, our cancellation policy does still apply.
Can I bring my own refreshments?
Yes of course. We want to keep this skate space alcohol free, so ask you do not bring alcohol to consume on the premises, including the car park. If you bring your own water bottle, we are able to refill this for you for free. We also have a small selection of soft drinks for sale. Should you spill your drink, please let a marshall know straight away. Please make sure you are not eating and drinking while you skate, that includes chewing gum.
I wear inline skates, can I come?
Yup. We welcome all wheely-booted folks.
I don't identify as a girl, can I come?
Absolutely! Roller Girl Gang was founded and is run by women, with the support of our fantastic volunteer team, to provide better access to roller skating for all genders and identities, especially marginalised folks.
Can I collect my shop order?
You absolutely can, providing you have made the order with sufficient time for the team to plan this. You can contact the shop directly on +44 7479 430404 .
How do I find the venue?
The Ramgarhia Sikh Sports Centre is near Sheepscar Interchange on Chapeltown road. Drive in through the ornate gates and up the slope to the sports hall at the back of the site.
There is plenty of free parking outside the front of the sports centre. Bus stops are right outside the gate.
Please wait in the hallway outside the sports hall until invited in, as we will be finishing the earlier class.
