About this Event

Join us Saturday November 7th for an inspiring concert of Canadian songs and stories featuring: Braden Gates, John Wort Hannam and Emily Triggs, with your host, Jowi Taylor.

What if there was one object that embodied the countless stories of a truly diverse Canada? The Six String Nation Guitar is just that. Officially nicknamed Voyageur, it's a beautifully crafted acoustic instrument constructed from 64 pieces of Canadian history, representing our culturaly heritage, drawn from every province and territory across this vast land we call home. From Paul Henderson's 1972 hockey stick, to John Ware's original cabin, to John A. MacDonald's sideboard, to a portion of the famed Bluenose schooner, these are all potent and powerful pieces, steeped with lore and meaning.

Conceived by Peabody Award winner and former CBC broadcaster Jowi Taylor and built by esteemed Nova Scotia luthier George Rizsanyi, the guitar was completed in 2006 with a mission to help Canadian explore their identity and celebrate their shared history through music. It made it's stage debut in the hands of Stephen Fearing on Parliament Hill, Canada Day 2006 and has toured around the country many times ever since.
