Six Feet Under is a legendary American death metal band formed in Tampa, Florida in 1993 by former Cannibal Corpse vocalist Chris Barnes and guitarist Allen West of Obituary. Originally launched as a side project, the band quickly evolved into Barnes’ full-time focus after his departure from Cannibal Corpse, becoming one of the most recognizable names in death metal history.

Known for their groove-heavy approach to death metal, Six Feet Under built their identity around crushing riffs, mid-tempo brutality, and Barnes’ unmistakable guttural vocal style. Over the course of more than three decades, the band has released an extensive catalog including albums like Haunted, Maximum Violence, True Carnage, and Killing for Revenge, helping solidify their status as one of the best-selling death metal acts in the United States.

Throughout their career, the band has featured notable members including Jack Owen, Terry Butler, and Ola Englund, while continuing to evolve their sound without abandoning the raw aggression that defined their early releases.
