Sitting with Grand Mothers - a spiritual ceremony for women
Advertisement
This is a spiritual ceremony for women. During this ceremony, we will be sitting with (and on) the spiritual painting “Grand Mothers” made by our very own Copenhagen-based Sylwia Ziolkowska (sylview.art), master of femme-psychedelic art. Your purpose for sitting on the painting and what you get out of it is personal to you, but you are invited to share both about your intention and the effect the ceremony had on you.
This event is:
- Exclusively for women
- Free (no attendance fee)
- Safe
- Emotionally inclusive
- Experimental in nature
- Hosted and facilitated by the guardian of Grand Mothers, Jon
Format:
- We start in a circle. Jon welcomes the group to the space. After a short introduction to the ceremony by Sylwia and Jon, the invitation is for all participants to share their intention for the ceremony
- We then go into a slow, intentional cacao ritual guided by Jon intended to focus the group into the womb field
- After a short and silent break, the main ritual starts: We take turns to sit on Grand Mothers. This will take place popcorn-style and in silence where the group will witness each of their sisters sit on, and commune with, Grand Mothers
- After another short break, we do a sharing circle where the invitation is to share what each participant experienced during the communion ritual
- Lastly, we will perform a gratitude ritual where we all tie a knot on a red wool string and pass the ball of yarn between us popcorn-style. Having tied a knot, each person holds on to the string until the last person has tied a knot and we are all connected in winding ways across and between us, symbolizing our connection both to each other and to the feminine legacy
Co-creation: Whilst this is a guided ceremony, it is also a co-creation. You are invited to come fully as you are and in whichever mode you may be in. The format of this ceremony can (and should be) shaped by the women in the group if the call is strong enough and the group agrees. Everything is an invitation and all is done in service of the divine feminine and of the women participating.
Time: Please arrive on time at 15.00. This is a soft, quiet ceremony inclusive of all levels of human sensitivity. There will be time to land as the expectation is to start at around 15.20, but if you arrive later than this you may be turned away so as to preserve and respect the group and the space.
Clothing: It is important to bring soft, comfortable clothing so that you do not damage the painting when sitting on it. The painting is made with acrylics so it is quite sturdy, but things like zippers, studs in jeans etc. can damage it. Basically, anything metal or plastic is not welcome when sitting on the painting. Direct skin contact with the painting must also be kept to a minimum to protect the acrylics. There will be some clothing available (sweat pants and socks) that you can borrow if you need to.
Event participation: Must be confirmed firstly by clicking “Going” on the event and secondly by DM’ing Jon and confirming your intent to participate. Specific address will be sent upon confirmation on your participation.
Drinks and snacks: Will be available in the breaks. You are welcome to bring snacks yourself as well, but then the invitation is to share with the group. If you feel called to bring something more substantial to eat or drink, please coordinate with Jon.
About the venue: This event will take place in Jon’s home in Ørestad, in the view of the idyllic Byparken and Kalvebod Fælled. The space is dedicated to the Divine Feminine and blessed with many sacred pieces of art. There is an altar where you can place your sacred objects.
