Sistah Sinema Movie Night | ANY OTHER WAY: THE JACKIE SHANE STORY

In 2014, queer folks from across Cleveland came together to watch films, discuss, and simply #chill. Eleven years later, Deidre McPherson, founding director of the Cleveland chapter, is relaunching Sistah Sinema with .

This film tells the story of Grammy-nominated trans soul singer Jackie Shane, who electrified Toronto's 1960s music scene. Though she withdrew from public life in 1971, Jackie Shane remains an unsung icon, leaving a hidden legacy of musical brilliance, self-authenticity, and cultural trailblazing.

This event will take place on Saturday, December 6 at 6:30 PM at the Midtown TechHive (6815 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44103).

SCHEDULE:

• 6:30 PM – Doors open. Check in, grab a plate of food, and get settled.
• 7:00 PM – Welcome and opening words.
• 7:15 PM – Film starts (99 minutes).
• 8:55 PM – A moment of reflection together.
• 9:00 PM – Community conversation about the film.
• 9:35 PM – Music, more food, good vibes, time to connect.
• 10:30 PM – Close out the night.
