About this Event
Join us for our Inaugural SIS-YPFP Research Symposium: Reimagining Foreign Policy in a Transforming World. The symposium will feature research from the SIS graduate community and YPFP membership focusing on emerging technologies, AI, nation building, and our ever-changing world order.
Engage in meaningful dialogue, gain professional connections and support the research of fellow young professions. Associate Dean of Research Simon Nicholson will open the symposium. In the afternoon, join breakout groups for intimate discussions around translating academic work for non-academic publications.

Panel 2: Reimagining Legitimacy, Sovereignty, and Narrative Power as Tools of Foreign Policy
After the symposium, join us for an evening of networking at the Niskanen Center rooftop for light bites and drinks.

Parking Instructions
The School of International Service (SIS) is located at the intersection of Nebraska Ave NW and New Mexico Ave NW. There is a parking garage right under the SIS building.
Driving:In order to get to the SIS building, the best address to put in GPS is:School of International Service Parking, 3498 Nebraska Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016.You’llenter the garage at the corner of New Mexico Ave and Nebraska Ave, drive down to the 1stor 2ndlevel and park anywhere. Once you’ve parked, take the elevator to the T level, exit on the T level and go through the double doors on your right. Immediately you’ll see the SIS Founder’s Room.
By rideshare:If you’re coming by Uber or Lyft, the driver can enter the garage without having to pay. Give them this address:School of International Service, 3498 Nebraska Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016. Have them park in the first spot on your left where they can park for 15 minutes for unloading/loading. If you’re dropped off, walk into the building through the double doors, go down that hall and make a left. Enter through the second set of double doors by the elevators and you’ll immediately see the SIS Founder’s Room.
By public transit:If you take public transportation, enter the building through the front doors, walk to the back of the lobby atrium and go down the large Spanish steps. In front of you will be the SIS Founder’s Room.
By Metro
The closest Metrorail station is the Tenleytown-AU stop on the Red line. From the station, you can take the AU shuttle that is located on the corner of 40th St. NW and Ablemarle St. NW, in front of the Whole Foods.
By Bus
Metro Bus lines that run through the AU campus include:
