Tickets are $20, general admission.
Siren Theatre Collective invites audiences to join us in the dark woods for “Siren Songs: Ghost Stories of the Chesapeake”, a theatrical journey through some of the Chesapeake region’s spookiest and most enduring ghost stories.
Stories compiled and staged by Robin Schwartz and produced by Jennifer Cooper, “Siren Songs” is presented as a staged reading* performance of approximately one hour with no intermission. The production brings a collection of Maryland ghost stories and local legends to life through an ensemble of actors, storytelling, and theatrical imagination.
Before the performance, audiences can get into the spirit of the evening with preshow tarot card readings by Lory Starling.
*A staged reading is a theatrical performance in which actors read from scripts as they perform, rather than presenting a fully memorized production. The format creates an intimate, story-focused experience that puts the words and performers front and center.
The stories featured are compiled from retellings found in books, local lore, and regional ghost-story traditions. While inspired by these sources, they have been dramatized for the stage and may contain fictionalized or embellished elements. As with many ghost stories, the line between what is history and what is legend can be little hazy.
And this particular set of tales comes with a setting to match: the performance will take place outdoors at Woods Outdoor Amphitheatre in Severna Park. Audiences are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring a lap blanket, a flashlight, and anything else that will help you get comfortable under the night sky.
Meet the Cast:
Jennifer Cooper
Summer Jeanne Dillon-Williams
Taylor Hinds
Laura Schwartz
Lory Starling
Jason Vaughan
Gillian Van Ditta
Content warning: this performance may not be suitable for young children. Siren Songs explores strange folklore, death, the supernatural, and darker themes. Audience discretion is advised.
