About:
Siren Songs is a recital exploring humankind’s relationship with nature, our water systems, and climate change. Featuring the Midwest premiere of 4 newly-composed art song cycles for treble voice and piano by four up-and-coming women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ composers, Siren Songs is a project uniting ecological activism with musical excellence. Each piece toys with portrayals of “sirens” (e.g.: an unnamed voice calling out to her audience, with a message that is equal parts inviting as well as alarming– the water is rising, and nature is dying). Featuring performances by Cristina Gallo, Soprano, Jacqueline Victoria Kerns, Mezzo-Soprano, and AnnaLotte Smith, Piano.
Based on the packet, the normal audience seating would be great. As for the technical elements, we do have a few projections that have been added to the show, so we would like to use a projector screen. I know that the space does not have one, so we'd be willing to bring in our own and rear project it behind the piano/stage area, should space allow. If there is not enough clearance, we are happy to set this up on one of other walls, if we can arrange seating appropriately. We can mark this out and send over. We are still deciding on the input for lighting but should have this Monday at latest.
