Sip, learn, act: A climate literacy fundraiser for Nepal
About this Event
Join us for an engaging, high-impact evening of climate literacy and community discussion, all in support of the ongoing Nepal flood relief.
100% of proceeds from ticket sales and additional donations will go directly to the Nepal Red Cross Society (https://donation.nrcs.org/) to support urgent flood relief efforts on the ground in Nepal.
We are proud to hold this fundraiser at Nook Bar & Lounge, a local, Nepali owned and operated business. By joining us, you are standing in solidarity with flood-affected communities in Nepal while supporting our local Nepali community right here in Hong Kong.
What we’ll cover
Guided by climate educator Basel Kirmani, this session breaks down complex climate science into clear, accessible insights and practical solutions:
- Current climate science: What causes climate change, how we are tracking against global targets, and what each degree of warming means for ecosystems and communities.
- The disaster in Nepal: Understanding the climate dynamics behind the recent flooding in Nepal, high-altitude climate impacts, and what we can expect in the future.
- Reasons for optimism: How we already possess most of the key technologies and tools needed to stop the worst of climate change, and why implementation is now the key focus.
- Empowered action: Practical, high-impact steps you can take as an individual starting today.
