About this Event
This bookbinding workshop teaches you how to reclaim hard covers from discarded and thrift store books and prepare them to sew a Coptic bound notebook.
Then you will learn how to make sections of pages to fit your covers and add signature wrappers for an extra layer of interest on the spine.
To finish you will be guided step by step to sew your notebook with a single needle Coptic stitch using coloured linen thread.
Coptic bound books have a beautiful structure that allows the book to open out flat, making them a joy to work in.
We will be using a choice of papers with coloured linen thread, so you will be able to customise your design, making your books truly unique to you.
All materials and the Eventbrite booking fees are included in your ticket.
Some sewing or basic bookbinding skills would be helpful however participant numbers are kept low to allow plenty of one to one time and help if needed.
Bring along a a small hardbacked book that you'd like to upcycle or choose form the selection available in the studio.
The workshop is held in the dedicated workshop studio on the first floor at Fisherton Mill in Salisbury. Participant numbers are limited to 6 to allow plenty of working space and 1:1 support from your tutor, Tamsin Loveday.
Refreshments are available from the excellent Fisherton Mill Cafe where workshop participants benefit from a 10% discount.
Current Covid-19 precautions will be observed Please do not attend the workshop if you feel unwell or have symptoms.
