2024, Canada, 98 min, dir: Tasha Hubbard
Singing Back the Buffalo follows Indigenous visionaries, scientists and communities who are rematriating the buffalo to the heart of the North American plains they once defined, signalling a turning point for Indigenous nations, the ecosystem, and all of our collective survival.
Co-presented with the Centre for Literatures in Canada (CLC), the Association for Literature, Environment, and Culture in Canada (ALECC) and the University of Alberta (UofA) as they joint-host Cross-Pollinations, a conference at the University of Alberta from June 16-20, 2026. The theme of the conference is “Cross-Pollinations in Ecological Literary Studies.”
Come join a group of writers, artists, scholars, and thinkers who work in the intersections of art, literature, and ecology to learn more about the ecological issues that are specific to the prairies.
Filmmaker Tasha Hubbard and producer Jason Ryle will be in attendance for a Q&A hosted by Dr. Jordan Kinder following the screening.
