Island Karaoke is proud to present the 2nd Annual Sing Nanaimo! Karaoke Competition, a community-focused event celebrating local amateur singers, unforgettable performances, and the courage to step onto the stage.
By purchasing this ticket, you are reserving an audition spot for July 19, 2026 at the Landlubber Pub.
What Happens After I Register?
After reserving your audition spot, Amanda Von Hera and the Island Karaoke team will contact you using the email address provided during Eventbrite registration.
You will be asked via email to submit:
🎤 Your first song choice for your audition performance
Please watch your inbox after registering, as your song choice must be submitted before audition night.
Audition Details
Date: Sunday, July 19, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Location: Landlubber Pub, Nanaimo, BC
Audition Fee: $25 per contestant on Eventbrite
Same Day Audition Fee: $30 cash per contestant at the door
Each contestant will perform one song for the judges and audience.

What Are the Judges Going To Look For?
Sing Nanaimo! is not about finding the "perfect" singer.
This competition is designed to celebrate courage, authenticity, self-expression, and genuine connection.
Of course, vocal ability earns points, but contestants who perform from the heart, have fun on stage, and connect with the audience will often score more strongly than contestants who focus solely on technical perfection.
Our judges are looking for singers who:
• Are genuinely enjoying themselves
• Bring their own personality and style to the stage
• Connect naturally with the audience
• Show confidence, courage, and authenticity
• Create a memorable experience for everyone in the room
• Express the spirit and emotion of the song
You do not need to be the "best" singer.
You do not need formal training.
You do not need years of performance experience.
What matters most is being yourself, having fun, and sharing a moment with the audience.
Many past audience favorites weren't the strongest technical singers—they were the performers who made people smile, laugh, sing along, and feel something.
If you're willing to step on stage and be authentically you, you're exactly the kind of performer we're hoping to see at Sing Nanaimo!
Selected contestants will advance to the Quarterfinals on August 2, 2026.
Eligibility
Sing Nanaimo! is intended for amateur performers.
Professional touring musicians, paid professional singers, and individuals who earn income through professional music performance may be deemed ineligible at the discretion of the organizers.
