"What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play" in the words of Cabaret join us on October 17, 2026 at 7:30pm at the D. F. Cook Recital Hall. Enjoy A Night at The Cabaret with conductor Simon Rivard and soprano Danika Lorèn for an evening of cabaret favourites. Presented by Quidi Vidi Brewery as part of the NSO's Sinfonia Series.
The evening opens with music from John Kander and Fred Ebb’s Cabaret, bringing the sound of the theatre straight into the hall, lively, a little cheeky, and sometimes quietly reflective. Songs
by William Bolcom follow, continuing that cabaret tradition with music that feels close, personal, and directly connected to the words.
Works by Kurt Weill, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Jacques Ibert bring variety to the second half of the program, from the well known waltz by Dimitri Shostakovich to theatrical song and lighter orchestral pieces, creating an evening shaped by stage music, memorable tunes, and strong character.
