Simon Callaghan and Bartholomew LaFollette: Schubert, Brahms, Rochberg
About this Event
The gentle melancholy of Schubert’s Arpeggionne Sonata is appreciated by many. Brahms’ Second Sonata is a little-known work by a great composer, and yet at the heart of it is one the most moving slow movements written by the composer. George Rochberg’s Ricordanza is a nostalgic meditation written by a composer who had repudiated the modernist style of his youth to write in an idiom strongly reminiscent of German Romanticism.
