‘Everyday, once a day, give yourself a present’
The music used throughout the Twin Peaks franchise of TV series’ and films has become almost as iconic as the cult show itself, over thirty years since Series 1 first aired. Working in partnership with director David Lynch, the late, great composer Angelo Badalamenti developed a series of spooky yet playful soundtracks, which perfectly match the quirky, idiosyncratic plot-lines and interactions between the many eccentric characters audiences have come to know and love.
Following an initial commission in 2019 to arrange this music for an interpretive performance context, Leeds-based pianist & composer Simeon Walker has assembled an ensemble of outstanding Northern-based musicians to present captivating new interpretations of the eclectic music found in both Series 1 & 2, and the Fire Walk With Me prequel film.
Expect classic pieces from the seminal ambient & jazz-inspired instrumental soundtrack such as Dance of the Dream Man, Laura Palmer’s Theme and the sultry Audrey’s Dance; with bluesy, sassy, rock & roll numbers from the latter series’ sitting alongside iconic Julee Cruise songs Into The Night, Questions in a World of Blue and more. There might even be a singalong too.
As the great Agent Cooper said: ‘I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.’
