Event Details:
Give your child the opportunity to travel through history with an interactive Silk Road-themed treasure hunt combined with calming mindfulness activities.
Step into the shoes of ancient explorers and experience the wonders of the Silk Road with our one-day treasure hunt at the Asian Civilisations Museum.
This is not just an adventure but also an inward journey, teaching your child the power of mindfulness while they uncover treasures from cultures and cities along the famed trade route.
They will team up as "Silk Road Explorers," following clues, solving puzzles, and overcoming challenges — just like the brave merchants who journeyed from the East to the West centuries ago.
Along the way, we’ll incorporate yoga and mindfulness activities to help your child develop and strengthen their focus, patience, and self-awareness.
It will be a day packed with history, fun, and mindfulness tools that they can carry with them for life!
Main Activities:
🔎 Grounding - Recognizing the importance of safety in a new & outdoor space, embracing risks as opportunities for growth, understanding the balance of freedom and responsibility, fostering a growth mindset by emphasizing the power of 'yet,' and encouraging self-motivation through goal-setting and celebrating progress.
🔎 Intention Setting & Self Reflection - Through mindfulness practices, we empower your child to understand, be aware of and process both pleasant and unpleasant emotions, feelings and thoughts. With practice, it will help your child to articulate their experiences and cultivate the actionable steps to help them achieve their goals.
🔎 Mindful Movement and Yoga - Imagine moving and stretching like a camel crossing the desert or flowing like a river. Fun engaging activities and games will support your child in developing body awareness, strength, coordination, balance, and control, helping them connect with their bodies while fostering a sense of playfulness and joy.
🔎 Treasure Hunt - Your child can learn skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, navigation, observation, following directions, creativity, perseverance, goal setting, cultural awareness, and the importance of physical activity, all while having fun exploring their surroundings.
🔎 A Mindful Quest - Exploration of the rich histories of ancient cities like China, India, Egypt, and Spain. A day of calm & focused treasure hunting through mindful breathing and sensory exploration.
Objectives:
Promote body, spatial and proprioceptive awareness in your child to help build overall body awareness through different movements and social settings.
💪🏼 Body awareness is being aware of all the body parts, how they are moving, and where they are located in space. This knowledge for adults and older children is basically unconscious, travelling between the brain and spinal cord.
💪🏼 Spatial awareness is the ability to understand the body’s position in relation to the surroundings. It can have an impact on everything from picking up a book to navigating social settings.
💪🏼 Proprioceptive awareness is the body’s ability to sense its location, movements, and actions. Proprioception, also called kinesthesia, is the reason we’re able to move freely without consciously thinking about our environment.
💪🏼 Social awareness is the ability to read, hold and respect social cues and boundaries with empathy. Understanding how one’s actions can create collective influence on others and the surrounding.
💪🏼 Emotion regulation is the ability to be aware, acknowledge, accept and respond with helpful actions within one’s area of control. Conscious choice on what to respond and what to let go.
