About this Event
Come and visit beautiful Playa Vista, a community built in 2003 that included a new elementary school, a library and a preserved area of the wetlands just east of Playa Del Rey and north of LAX.
Playa Vista is also known as Silicon Valley South due to Google, YouTube, I MAX and EA calling it home. Smaller tech firms that have also made it their home, are Thrive Market, Flexport and ChowNow, to name a few.
Playa Vista was also built on land that was owned by the famous billionaire Howard Hughes and who formed Hughes Aircraft Company in 1932. Due to the need for aircraft during World War II, Hughes commissioned aircraft hangers be built and one of them is still standing today. Google is now using the original aircraft hanger for office space and has preserved the building.
Our tour will show you the outside of the legendary aircraft hanger that was used by Hughes Aircraft Company and later Boeing and movie studios for filming the movie Titanic and Independence Day. Google has transformed the aircraft hangers into unique office space.
Our tour will start at Google’s offices in Playa Vista. We will see the aircraft hanger’s building and then make our way to the heart of Playa Vista where there are businesses such as a movie theatre, CVS, and restaurants.
Playa Vista has a unique combination of homes, condominiums, & apartments along with 3 dog parks, numerous parks for young children and a thriving business community. We will end our tour at Sol Mexican Cocina for mingling 12775 Millenn Drive, in Playa Vista, 90094.
