Lisa Edwards died on Knoxville Streets while Knoxville police laughed a her, called her a liar, threatened her, stacked charges on her, manhandled her, dragged her out of a wheelchair and in general behaved horribly.But we are not forgetting the hospitals responsibility in her death. This practice of dumping patients who are poor, have mental issues, health issues to the streets has to stop. It was the hospital that called the cops on a dying woman they ejected.
At the very least we demand a full scale review of their discharge practices so this never happens again. Ever. We demand a full review followed buy substantial policy changes to assure this never happens again.
People come to a hospital in their worst moments and and their most vulnerable. She should NEVER fear being dumped and having the cops called on them.
This will be a silent protest. Come in your sunday best and please to not impede any traffic, people or sidewalks. These are public sidewalks and its where she died we have an absolute right to be there and memorize her.
But the cops and the hospital would love to make this about anything other than their actions. We want to confront them with what they did, but not interfere with the patients or do anything to make their lives more difficult.
If Fort Sanders had done its job Lisa may of been receiving family members after a health scare from one of those same beds.
