In this dazzling silent fantasy, a daring thief falls in love with a princess and embarks on a magical quest filled with flying carpets, enchanted creatures, and sweeping adventure. Featuring groundbreaking special effects and lavish design, The Thief of Bagdad is a landmark of early cinema.
Presented as part of the Carolina Theatre’s Silent Film Series, featuring a live performance of an original organ score.
We're pleased to have organist Ben Brafford joining us to play live accompaniment for the film. He began piano in the first grade and organ lessons after completing his Master's degree in piano performance. He earned his doctorate in choral conducting from UNCG. During his 32 years at Holy Trinity Episcopal, he's enjoyed performing, composing and arranging music. Originally from Gastonia, NC, he relocated to Greensboro, NC for his education and remained for work and to develop his musical skills.
