Silent Protest for Parents Missing Birthdays Through Family Court

On September 14, parents, family members, court observers, and advocates will gather peacefully outside the Orange County Courthouse to recognize the birthdays and family milestones lost during prolonged separation between parents and children.

This event is being held on the birthday of Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge Diana M. Tennis as a symbolic date for raising public awareness. The purpose is not to disrupt court operations, confront any judge, or interfere with any pending case.

The purpose is to make visible the human cost of family-court decisions and delays.

For parents separated from their children, a missed birthday is not merely a date on a calendar. It is a moment that cannot be returned. Many families report missing birthdays, holidays, school events, medical milestones, and ordinary days together while navigating court orders, evaluations, contempt proceedings, restricted communication, or unresolved litigation.

Participants will stand silently with signs identifying the family time that has been lost:

  • “Three Birthdays Missed”
  • “Children Need Both Parents”
  • “Due Process Matters in Family Court”
  • “Lost Time Cannot Be Returned”
  • “Accountability Protects Families”
  • “Family Court Decisions Have Human Consequences”

The gathering will also call attention to the pending judicial-discipline proceeding involving Judge Tennis, Florida Supreme Court Case No. SC2025-1438. Public records show that the Florida Supreme Court rejected a proposed public-reprimand-only resolution and, in its July 2, 2026 replacement order, stated that it would impose a suspension and fine in addition to a public reprimand.

That disciplinary proceeding does not establish that every ruling entered by Judge Tennis was improper, nor does this protest ask participants to prejudge any pending case. It does demonstrate why transparency, ethical compliance, due process, and meaningful judicial accountability matter.

Format

This is a silent, peaceful, non-disruptive demonstration.

Participants may bring handheld signs. At the designated time, the group will observe a period of silence representing birthdays and family milestones lost during court-ordered separation.

No speeches, amplified sound, confrontation, or courthouse disruption are planned unless separately authorized.

  • Keep entrances, exits, sidewalks, ramps, and vehicle access clear.
  • Follow lawful instructions from courthouse security and law enforcement.

Participants may optionally display the number of birthdays, holidays, or months of parenting time they believe they have lost. Do not include a child’s full name, photograph, school, medical information, address, or other identifying information.
