Toronto-based Signe Miranda's Veranda is a five-piece alternative roots-rock band. The live band is led by singer-songwriter/guitarist (winner of the 2021 Musician of the Year award from the Toronto Musician's Association) and author of the #1 International Best Selling book, "The Song Creation Formula: 7 Easy Steps to Writing Your Song") Signe Miranda, with drummer, Richard M. Kiernicki, lead guitarist Chris Birkett (Grammy/Juno winning producer, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Sinead O'Connor), bassist, Marcus Walker and keyboardist, Shari Tallon.
Their single, "It's Been So Long (Spread Out Our Wings)," was produced by Greg Godovitz (Goddo), blending 60's psychadellic folk/rock, with 90's pop/rock, engineered & mixed by Jeremy Trites at Rouge Valley Studios, including musicians, Brian Allossery, Shamakah Ali (Al Green, Shakura S'aida) and Bill Dillon (Sarah McLachlan, Daniel Lanois, Peter Gabriel).
Over their 25-year career, the band has also included the following musicians live/recorded, lead guitarist Fraser Melvin, bassist Robin Latimer, keyboardist Laura Fernandez, keyboardist Peter Nunn (Honeymoon Suite, Andy Kim), lap steel player Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo), drummer Cleave Anderson (Blue Rodeo), Dominic & Sarah von Riedemann, Jamie Tanner, Dietrich Sider, Dan Noonan, Jeff Daze and more. Their first show was at Rancho Relaxo on March 8th, 2021 with Stu Burkimsher on bass and Tony Hamilton on drums.
Their previous album, September Night, blends together a sound that seamlessly brings you on a journey from post-break-up, alt-pop-punk title track, “September Night” to warm, spacious, alt-country gem, “Like It Was Yesterday”. "September Night" received "Honorable Mention" in the 2010 Song of The Year competition (The Songwriter Foundation) and "She's Breaking Up" was #48 on NBTMusic Radio's top 100 songs of 2012, a German internet-based station. Their debut record, Solar Eclipse (2002) charted on college radio across Canada and Signe released a solo album in between (Love Wins), with 10 cross-Canada tours and shows in the UK and Norway.
This 25th Anniversary show features guests who have played in the band at various times throughout their career and they are grateful to everyone who’s played a part in the band’s history.
Tickets: Advance $15 (ticket only), $25 ticket + 5 CD box set (2 Signe Miranda’s Veranda CDs - Solar Eclipse & It’s Been So Long Ltd Ed. best of September Night & new single, Live Wins solo CD & 2 CDs from The Pickups (s/t & Country Houses) Sarah Greene, Martin Crawford, Owen Keenan & Signe Miranda
