What if you were magically in the room when a couple killer late 60’s bands that preceded the super group that became CSN&Y were hanging out together, playing their best songs?
This could be your experience on Thursday April 30th, when you come to Martyrs to see Tributosaurus become Buffalo Springfield and The Byrds.
This year, our 24th in existence, will see the return of the Tributosaurus Signature Series, which allows a little more leeway in band(s) we choose to become. One full set of Buffalo Springfield, a group we’ve long discussed but never inhabited, will be combined with a set of songs by The Byrds, a band we haven’t become in many, many years.
Buffalo Springfield, featuring young Stephen Stills and Neil Young, crackled with energy and incredible songs bringing folk rock, country, Brit pop, and psychedelic rock into harmony. Their contemporaries The Byrds, featuring Roger McGuinn and a young David Crosby, were doing similarly inspired work, with huge, angelic vocals and a ton of kickass Rickenbacker 12-string guitar.
Crosby, Stills, and Young were merely hinting at their legendary careers to come. I guess on some other show we have to feature Graham Nash and his band The Hollies?
Come out Thursday April 30th at Martyrs for One night, Two (2!!) bands, two sets, and a ton of indelible songs you know and will love anew.
