About Signals 2024

Signals Creative Tech Expo 2024, a premier event jointly organized by DigiBC and the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), is set to be a pinnacle in the realm of creative technology, showcasing innovative storytelling across video games, XR (extended reality), virtual production, and AI. This year's expo, held from September 27th to October 6th, promises to delve deeper into themes that resonate with the current global socio-political climate while continuing to celebrate the rich cultural narratives and technological advancements of Canadian and Indigenous artists.

Signals 2024 includes a mini-conference for local and international artists and indie studios working in Interactive Digital Media; programming also includes a Symposium on The Future of Entertainment with industry leaders discussing the emergence of multi-screen, immersive and mixed reality platforms as well as AI's impact on human creativity from film to video games, and business practices. This year, the Signals XR Lab launched bringing producers in creative technology from across Canada and Turtle Island for mentorship and development of new XR projects celebrating Indigenous and Black futurisms.
