PRSA Boston Diversity Panel Discussion- Sign of the Times
About this Event

On Wednesday, June 8th from 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m., PRSA Boston, in conjunction with Walker Sands is hosting our in-person Diversity event, Sign of the Times, a panel discussion with PR representatives from top Boston companies, and area journalists about managing the plethora of perspectives and conflicting ideologies on controversial issues of the day.

Panelists include:

• Katrina Kincade, reporter, WBZ-TV

• Greg Lee, senior assistant managing editor for talent and community, The Boston Globe

• Jessicah Pierre, chief of communications, Office of Mayor Michelle Wu

• Goldie Taylor, senior vice president, chief communications & marketing officer, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

The 1960’s and 1970’s social and political unrest gave voice to many, buffeted by national news coverage of the Vietnam War, and police violence on citizens in the deep south, which ultimately extended the existing 15-minute national news broadcast to 30 minutes, and brought seemingly regional issues to living rooms across the country.

What’s old is new and voices are again amplified. Cell phone cameras, social media, a 24-hour news cycle and the reach of the internet amid 21st Century social unrest about ongoing national police brutality, and hate crimes toward minorities have run parallel with a worldwide public health crisis.

Panelists will discuss this latest intersection of social and political issues on news coverage and corporate reputation management.

PRSA Members- $25

Non PRSA Members- $35

There will be a networking period and refreshments prior to the panel discussion.
