Sigma(Σ)Liverpool art classes and studio visit with Richard Meaghan

On Thursday 15th June from 6-8pm I am opening up the studio for visitors to pop by and have a cuppa and a biscuit and see what I, Richard Meaghan and my Sigma artists are painting at the moment. You can also receive information on what classes are available too. The event is completely free and we welcome you all to come visit us.

Sigma(Σ)Liverpool is a small art school and an online commercial gallery run by Richard Meaghan from his studio in Liverpool dedicated to contemporary painting. Sigma(Σ)Liverpool is an ongoing, ambitious project that takes dedicated art loving people and turns them into contemporary artists. As well as the odd workshop in life drawing, old master portrait painting and mixing skin tones; all the old good stuff. We as a group meet up on Thursdays to discuss our work and continue with our projects. The ethos of Sigma(Σ)Liverpool is to reflect on the idea of what it is like as an individual living in the world today. The artists at Sigma(Σ)Liverpool have a common thread, their works are highly personal visionary 'landscapes' that are a combination of figurative and abstract elements created from a combination of observation, memory, imagination and intuition .

Sigma(Σ)Liverpool had its first exhibition recently at Bridewell Gallery, Liverpool entitled, 'Turn it Upside-Down and Start Again'. The idea is to continue to exhibit as Sigma(Σ)Liverpool in art fairs and pop up exhibitions, as well as showcasing artists work with the online gallery.

Richard Meaghan is a contemporary painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally. He has won prizes for his work and his paintings are in many public and private collections.

Richard is also classically trained in the techniques of the Old Masters and has at the moment a monthly class where he teaches portraiture in oils and how we mix paint and make skin tones. These sessions are informal and for everyone, beginners can just turn up and in a few hours understand how it is all done! Everything is provided for you too so you don't have a materials list to put together.
