Sierra Vista ABC Hike Series: B is for Boccardo Loop

Join us at Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve to hike the Boccardo Loop, a tough but rewarding trek! The hardest section of this trail typically takes 40 minutes to climb 1.3 miles. Reward: perhaps the best sunset lookout in Silicon Valley. You could skip the big climb and go straight to the viewpoint...but where's the fun in that?

Hike details:

• Objective: Boccardo Loop Trail and lookout point
• Distance: 5 miles round-trip
• Elevation gain: ~1,125 feet (strenuous)
• Time to complete: 2.5 hours
• Please note there are no restrooms or water sources at Sierra Vista.

Dress appropriately! Sierra Vista can be breezy, particularly at sunset. Bring water, snacks, and a camera or cell phone if you'd like to take photos. For the return, bring a flashlight or use your cell phone flashlight app in case you need the extra light.
