The City of Santa Clarita is inviting the community to attend the Sidewalk Poetry Reading Dedication on October 15, 2022, at 11am at The MAIN theater located in Old Town Newhall. The ten winning stamped poems' locations will be revealed and the winning poets will have an opportunity to do a live reading of their stamped poems. A map displaying the locations of the stamped poems will be available. In the 2022 Arts Commission Work Plan and Public Art Proposal presented to the City Council, the Sidewalk Poetry Project was identified as a public art project. Ten poems were selected as the winners, all inspired by the theme What is a home? Stamped poems focus on identifying home, the poem should reflect on connection to physical or emotional spaces. The Sidewalk Poetry project includes original poems, which were stamped into cement on sidewalks throughout the City of Santa Clarita in spring 2022, as part of the Public Works department's sidewalk rehabilitation program.
