About Sid Sriram: Sriram, 32, was born in Chennai, India but moved to the United States when he was a toddler. He developed his love for music from his mother who was a carnatic music teacher. He is a music production graduate from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
At 20 something, he was personally recruited by multi award-winning musician, AR Rahman, to lend his soothing, melodious voice to his Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam compositions. His strong carnatic base is a great asset.
Sriram found worldwide fame after his song Adiye was featured in the film “Kadal”. While every song recorded by Sriram is bound to quickly become a hit, some stand out more than others. Most local fans will be familiar with Yaar Azhaippadhu, Anthimaalai Neram, Kannaana Kanney, Inkem Inked Inkem Kaavalae, Nee Kannodu, Ennadi Maayavi Nee, Yaen Yennai Pirindhaai, Yennai Maatrum Kadhale, Unna Nenachu, Maruvaarthai, Nee Nenacha, Anbae Peranbae, Thalli Pogathey, Kalaavathi, Teliyade Eliade, Aditi Bhavaraju, Priyathama, Samajavaragamana, Yemunnave Pilla, Okey Oka Lokam. Why do the youth like the sound of Sid’s voice? He attributes his popularity among the younger set to the time he spent at Berklee and where he was inspired by so many different music styles, from AR Rahman and Stevie Wonder to Thelonious Monk, Aphex Twin and Kendrick Lamar.
