Voices of Winged Warriors (VOWW) and the Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO) have partnered to hold an Adult Sickle Cell Wellness Encounter on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 from 2-6 p.m. at 9928 Grand River Ave. in Detroit (The Bridge Center Library). This Wellness Encounter offers the opportunity for adults with sickle cell and others to receive an on-site health assessment including vital signs, hemoglobin, blood pressure and A1C checks, and kidney function. Referrals to primary care and specialists will be provided, as well as resources for behavioral health, community assistance, health maintenance, and emergency care. Lead testing for ages 1 and up will also be conducted. (This can be important for individuals with pica). Pre-registration is strongly recommended to save your space, however, walk-ins are welcome.
