Program: Pinyon Jay - A Charismatic Sentinel of Juniper WoodlandsSpeaker: Lesley Howard
Pinyon Jays have experienced a shocking 85% population decline in the past 50 years and are under consideration for federal Endangered Species listing. This social, cacophonous species of Corvid occupies juniper woodland habitats in Idaho and 12 other states. To better understand the species' occupancy and habitat use in Idaho, the Intermountain Bird Observatory has conducted two years of comprehensive surveys. Lesley will delve into the ecology of Pinyon Jays, IBO's research on the species, and the future of research on this species in Idaho.
The meeting is in person and online. Online information will be available shortly.
