SHY FRiEND

SHY FRiEND is what happens when a queer, prairie-based, chronically-online & toxically self-determined artist faces the realities of the music industry in late-stage capitalism. It’s brutally honest, tragically dramatic, & full of feminine rage. SHY FRiEND has been turning the Alberta music scene into a space for the queer, alt, pop & punk misfits to share in while experiencing the sonic equivalent of their mantra “TO BE CRINGE IS TO BE FREE”.
Freshly assembled in 2023, SHY FRiEND has become notorious for their striking visuals and absurd antics from dive-bars to festivals across Alberta as a 5-piece gaggle of goofballs. SHY FRiEND is a powerhouse of sass & passion, with each member hooting, hollering, and dancing up a storm on stage (and oftentimes jumping into the crowd to be a part of the party!) The energy that SHY FRiEND gives off bleeds into the audience with screaming contests, mosh pits, singalongs and call & responses creating a synergetic environment akin to a secular, punk-rock church.
