Join us for a flavorful evening at Shuraya's Kitchen, where you’ll discover the magic of making bhortas (classic mashed recipes from Bangladesh) from scratch. This in-person experience is perfect for both beginners and home cooks who love bold flavors and meaningful food experiences. You’ll be welcomed by fellow guests, some new, some returning, and bond over shared stories, laughter, and a deep love for food. In this bhorta feast, Shuraya will prepare mashed vegetables, fish, lentils, or herbs. It is considered the ultimate comfort food, characterized by a creamy or chunky texture, bold flavors, and a distinct, pungent aroma derived from raw mustard oil, dried red chilies, and onions.

Shuraya will guide you through authentic Bengali-style recipes, showcasing a cuisine that is beautifully rich yet often overlooked. This is your chance to experience Bengali cooking up close and be part of a culture that is best understood through its food.

Your host, a passionate home cook, will welcome you into her cozy Cranston home with warming tea and appetizers before diving into essential techniques, spice combinations, and the art of balancing flavors. The class is demo-style, but guests are encouraged to gather close, observe, ask questions, and soak in the aromas as the dishes come together.

The evening concludes with an elegant, communal dining experience where guests will enjoy 5–6 home-style dishes while learning about Bengali culture through Shuraya’s personal stories.
