Do you remember June 4, 1962? Of course you do. We graduated Springfield High School on that date. Wow! It is hard to believe that we have been out of high school for more than 60 years! How can we possibly be this old?We ended the 1962 school year with the infamous “Last Laugh” on the SHS smokestack. As we make plans for a 60th class reunion, we are naming it the “Last Hurrah” as this will be the last one that we plan.
This will be a one-night event beginning at 6:00 o’clock p.m. on Friday, October 7, at the Springfield Motor Boat Club, 17 Club Area Lane, Springfield, IL 62712. Dress is casual. This will allow those of you who have family or friends in the area the opportunity to spend some time with them.
Details are firming up, but the menu includes a diverse spread of hors d’oeuvres and other edibles with a selection of non-alcoholic drinks and a cash bar. We will be hosting a trivia contest with the questions focusing on SHS and the Class of ‘62. And, we will be playing the music we heard for the first time between September 5, 1959 and June 4, 1962.
We sent out a “save the date” email to all grads we have email addresses for, and judging by the response we got from only about a third of our class, there seems to be a lot of interest in attending.
So here is your Official Invitation. Please fill it out and return the portion below with your check for $25.00 per person in the enclosed return envelope, or by emailing all information to [email protected] (and returning your reservation check in the provided envelope).
