SHS 50-year Reunion Friday party

With the reunion coming up, I thought I would relay our itinerary now.
Friday October 2, we will gather for a little fellowship at Motorheads off of Toronto Rd at I 55- a former Stuckey’s- which has the world’s largest Rt 66 sign and many neon signs from our youth in display. Good food and beverages are available there throughout the restaurant. We will gather there at 5:30 pm and stay until we leave or they throw us out. No admission fee. Very Casual attire. Dress like you did in high school- stack heels and leisure suits optional.
October 3 - 10 am - noon : tour of SHS - things have changed a lot since our last tour in 2016; the building is undergoing extensive updating and upgrades. We will also have a memorial time at our Scott Sommerhof tree to remember Scott and classmates who have departed since 2021.
5 pm - 10 pm - Lake Springfield Elks Club - cocktails, dinner and time to reconnect. $50 per person for dinner, music and a memento + cash bar. Nice casual attire. No ties. Hawaiian shirts optional- It is the big 5-0 ya’ know.
You can help us a lot by not assuming that everyone you still keep a connection with is in the know- and let them know to contact me with an email. We have never ever intentionally uninvited anyone (other than the classmates residing in the correctional centers). Our database started as a floppy disk on Schweizer’s Commodore 64 computer, and over the years tended to keep the attendees informed, but we’ve lost many nonattendees. The Reunion Team hopes that people come, especially if it’s your first of 10.
Finally, sometimes folks are reluctant to come to reunions if they’ve never been to one. Remember, only you know that you’ve never been to a reunion. We had a big class and the first old cliques are gone. For those of us lucky enough to still be on the planet - remember that these people are the biggest group of humans on Earth that knew you when we were still kids. Do not take these opportunities for granted. Maybe you’ll meet a new friend. There are a lot more reunions in the past than there will be in the future; you never know when it’s going to be the last one.
I personally bet a donation to your favorite charity that you’ll have a good time.
