The Shreveport-Bossier Maker Faire® will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Louisiana State University Shreveport, One University Place, Shreveport, LA 71115. The event is organized by a passionate team of professionals looking to enrich STEAM programming in North Louisiana, including members from the Northwest LASTEM Innovation Center Region 7, Sci-Port Discovery Center, the North Louisiana STEAM Alliance, Shreve Memorial Library, STARBASE Louisiana, Bossier Arts Council, and many more.
Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine. It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events. Read more on Maker Faire history, the Maker Movement, as well as how to start a Maker Faire or a School Maker Faire where you live.
In Shreveport-Bossier, the Maker Faire will help to revitalize our local economy and inspire our residents to work toward mobility and meaningful use of their talents and skills. We will accomplish this through the following efforts:
Build a Network of Makers
Create a showcase of creative work
Offer engaging, hands-on interaction
Support Grassroots Innovation
Showcase and encourage diversity and inclusion – All of us are makers
Get Energized! Highlight diverse energy resources and strategies
Whether you’re a crafter, coder, builder, inventor, or performing artist, the Shreveport-Bossier Maker Faire works to empower all makers to participate in the “Greatest Show and Tell on Earth.” Categories include engineering, arts, crafts, homesteading, science, young makers and more! Booths can be for workshops or performance-based or to simply show the community your creative talents. We have room for some commercial vendors but all vendors are strongly encouraged to have a hands-on activity. Hands-on programming will be available for visitors at this event. We hope to see you there!
See Makers* from Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Rochester, Kim Stahl, from the History Channel’s Forged in Fire, eNable Prosthetics, Dance Dance Revolution Machine, or be a Maker yourself! Speaking events will focus on STEM Career Pathways including Energy, Techathlons, and the Manufacturing and Technician crisis. *Subject to change.
