In the 1920s, radium was newly discovered and being mass marketed as a miracle cure for whatever ailed you. It was also hailed as the savior of World War I as the luminous paint made with radium was able to light the instruments soldiers needed to see in the dark. The people responsible for painting those dials, mostly young women, were proud of their work and contribution to the war effort until they began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. This powerful drama details the story of Grace Fryer and her fight for justice. Directed by Jamie Stewart and featuring an ensemble cast playing multiple characters, this story is told with humor and heart while also delivering an unflinching look into the dangers of the commercialization of science.
