The Showroom Cinema Main Bar, Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1 2BXThis year's October Showroom Shorts follows our tradition to show you some spooky, horrifical, dark, thriller-y kinds of short films!
Expect ghostly doings, creepy tension, all sorts of mystery, spiritual and psychological drama, witches and creatures of the night....and maybe a tiny bit of gore here and there too! It's not an out-and-out horror screening, but we are definitely treading into the dark side at this month's Showroom Shorts!
Curious? You should join us and check it out. It's free to attend, and the filmmakers will be in the room with you to introduce their films, say a few words about them. Network with them, ask them questions, check out what they've made.
We've got a few premieres this month and some films from a little further afield than Yorkshire as well.
We'll be raffling off a few cinema posters with horror / dark themes, cinema tickets courtesy of the Showroom Cinema, and maybe a few more spooky thingies.
So come on out and join us - and check out the evening's programme below!
Plus there's a little special on for you: BOGOF on 'Good Neighbour' pints of beer, from our friends at Triple Point Brewery! A fantastic Showroom Shorts treat!
The Evening's Programme:
All You Do is Bleed (Trailer) - Dir. Jordan Kane-Lewis, 2025 - 1.23
Afflicted with vampirism during a school trip, a 16-year-old student's growing hunger threatens to consume the lives of everyone around her.
The Pursuit - Dirs. Paul Stinson and Phil Nichols, 2025, 13.16
The Pursuit is a tense, relentless thriller that drags you from the quiet menace of the woods into the claustrophobic darkness of an abandoned building. As the walls close in, the hunt becomes more brutal, the choices more desperate, and the line between predator and prey begins to blur. Breathless, brutal, and unflinching — once it starts, there’s no turning back.
Gone - Dir. Bob Jordan, 2025 - 00.49
In this adaptation of an 1896 Mary Coleridge poem, a man reminisces over the many friends who have passed through his life.
The Only Ghost I Ever Knew - Dir. Bob Jordan, 2025 - 0.55
In this adaptation of an 1891 poem by Emily Dickinson, a woman tries her best to ignore a ghost intent on following her.
The Fire, the Lamp and I - Dir. Bob Jordan, 2025 - 1.43
In this adaptation of a 1902 poem by Mary Elizabeth Coleridge, a poacher rests alone at night contemplating his impact on the world while others contemplate their impact on him.
Knell - Dir. Dean Ferris, 2025 - 12.30
A short folk horror story that follows a couple on a walk through the woods. They hear a faint sound of a bell and follow the noise to a sinister hut filled with strange symbols, and a single flower. What starts as a simple act of affection leads to a frightening conclusion for them both.
Tell Them I Came - Dir. Larry Hall, 2025 - 3.51
A surrealistic re-imagining of Walter De La Mare's enigmatic poem "The Listeners". Filmed in two locations, it’s highly stylised, it features day-for-night and animated sections with added VFX for a "graphic novel" Gothic look.
Incident at Longshaw - Dir. Tom Roe, 2025 - 20.15
Made almost entirely by one man who also plays the main roles, this shoe-string budget film follows our protagonist as his leisurely walk in the countryside turns into a nightmare when he encounters a witch/creature that relentlessly pursues him.
Dust Up - Dir. Nathan Geering, 2025 - 4.20
Andre in search of his brother confronts 2 men who may have the answers. But the information comes at a price. This web series pilot takes inspiration from 80s Hong Kong movies mixing martial arts with gritty action. More episodes are due to be shot in the coming months.
Sam Hayne - Dir. Susie Casson, 2025 - 1.30
Sam Hayne is planning a relaxing evening at home - but is that likely at Hallowe'en?
