Perth indie favourites Showbag! return to the stage in 2026 to launch their long awaited new album Waterhouse, marking the band’s first new release and headline show in more than two decades.
Emerging from the Perth music scene in the early 2000s, Showbag! built a cult following through their loose, melodic blend of lo fi indie rock and emotionally direct songwriting, often drawing comparisons to artists such as Guided By Voices and Pavement. Their songs carried an instinctive charm and vulnerability that resonated deeply within Australia’s independent music community.
Now reunited, the band return with Waterhouse, a collection of songs first written in the mid 1990s and rediscovered years later. Revisiting these recordings has given the material new life while preserving the fragile honesty and melodic spirit that first defined the band.
Fresh off an appearance at RTRFM’s beloved In The Pines festival the week prior, Showbag! bring their renewed energy to Lyrics Underground for a special hometown celebration of the new record.
Joining them for the night are a handpicked lineup of favourite local artists: New Phono, Teen Angst and Ruby Pettit.
For longtime followers and new listeners alike, the Waterhouse album launch promises an evening of heartfelt songs, off centre indie rock and the rare return of a band whose story was never quite finished.
