Your hands do extraordinary things. They play, draw, sculpt, type, massage and make. But they don't work alone. Every fine movement of a finger relies on the shoulder, the ribs, the spine and the way you breathe.
If you spend your days at an instrument, a canvas, a treatment table or a keyboard, you may know the feeling of carrying more effort than the work needs: shoulders creeping up, wrists tired, hands that grip rather than glide.
In this workshop we explore the whole arm, from the breastbone and shoulder blade right out to the fingertips, through gentle Awareness Through Movement lessons, mostly lying down. There's no stretching, no pushing through, and no right way to copy. You follow your sensations moment by moment with curiosity and discover where you're doing more than you need to, and what else is possible.
Many people notice an easier reach, a freer shoulder, and a sense that their hands are better supported from within. Those changes often carry over into how they play, draw, work with clients and sit at a desk.
Especially welcome: musicians, fine artists, bodywork therapists, and anyone who sits at a computer or uses their hands and would like to do it more comfortably. No previous Feldenkrais experience needed. All bodies, ages and genders welcome.
What to bring: loose, warm clothing. Large mats are provided.
There will be a break with tea and biscuits/dried fruit!
Join us in person or via Zoom. Audio recordings will be available to all participants after the event.
