Shortboxed LIVE 2023

Shortboxed is the fastest growing marketplace app to buy and sell comic books, supported by the top dealers in the industry and a thriving community of collectors. We're taking the modern Shortboxed experience you know and love, and bringing it to you in person at our first-ever convention. At Shortboxed LIVE, you can expect to find the best dealer lineup you'll find at any show, legendary TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman, incredible artists, and a stage featuring interviews and panels, all in one convention hall. It will surely be a con unlike any you've experienced.

As a startup founded on the shoulders of tech giants, it's only natural for us to host the first-ever Shortboxed LIVE in sunny and inspiring Silicon Valley, and we hope you'll join us for what's sure to be a show to remember. For the serious collector, this is absolutely a show worth traveling to, and we're looking forward to meeting collectors and Shortboxed users from all over the country.

Attendance is limited and expected to sell out, so grab your tickets before they're all gone. Flight and hotel info is provided below.

It's been years since Kevin Eastman last did a show in the Bay Area, so we're honored to have him as our special guest at Shortboxed LIVE. He'll be signing books and doing an onstage interview during the con, which everyone will be able to watch.

Kevin will be doing two signings from 10:00am-12:00pm and 1:00-3:00pm. We highly recommend getting in line early, as the lines will get capped to ensure everyone in line will be able to get their items signed.

Signatures are $20 each.

Remarques are $40 each.

Max 5 items per person to ensure everyone has a chance to get something signed. If the line isn't capped, you're welcome to get back in line if you wish to have more items signed. There are no signature or remarque pre-sales, you'll need to get in line and purchase at the front of the line when it's your turn.

We'll be hosting a live interview with the legend himself from 3:30-4:30pm on the main stage. Got a burning question for Kevin? There will be time for some audience Q&A.

Tom Waltz is the Group Editor/Creative Development for premiere comic book publisher IDW Publishing, as well as the writer of critically-acclaimed comic book series and graphic novels, including TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, TMNT: THE LAST RONIN, THE LAST FALL, CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE, FINDING PEACE, AFTER THE FIRE, SILENT HILL: SINNER'S REWARD, SILENT HILL: PAST LIFE, SILENT HILL DOWNPOUR: ANNE'S STORY, DEAD RISING: ROAD TO FORTUNE, DUKE NUKEM: GLORIOUS BASTARD and many others.

Ciro Nieli is an artist, animation producer, director and designer known for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012), Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! (2004) and Teen Titans (2003). He has done covers and art for Creepshow, IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TMNT New Animated Adventures, Batman/TMNT Adventures, and more.

Mark Bode is a legendary graffiti artist, cartoonist, and comic book artist. He is best known for his work on Cobalt-60, Miami Mice, The Lizard of Oz, Heavy Metal magazine and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Maria the Wolf is a Chicago based comic book artist and illustrator who has taken the world by storm with her intensely powerful inks and unrelenting detail. Her covers for Marvel and DC are some of the most highly sought after in the industry today, delivering some of the most memorable and downright killer art you’ll ever find in a comic book.

Shortboxed LIVE will feature a Main Stage right in the middle of the show floor featuring programming throughout the day. There will be a keynote from Shortboxed CEO & co-founder Gene Miguel, interviews, panel discussions, giveaways, and a special one-on-one chat with Kevin Eastman.

You'll be able to dig for comics, chat with artists, and watch live programming on stage without having to leave the show floor!

We're designing an awesome convention exclusive t-shirt that the first 100 ticket sales will receive for free! Just be sure to select that ticket type, select your t-shirt size at checkout, and you'll be able to pick it up from the Shortboxed booth at the show. If you don't see that ticket type available, then that means it's sold out.

Got a box of comics you've been meaning to get graded? You're in luck! Desert Wind Comics, longtime Signature Series facilitators and Authorized CGC Dealers, will be onsite accepting CGC submissions and witnessing signatures. Just visit their booth in the lobby to drop off submissions or to get a signature witness.

The discounted convention rate for a single or double room is $189 per night, plus any applicable hotel taxes and fees. There is very limited availability for rooms at the discounted convention rate, and we expect them to sell out, so we highly recommend booking your room as early as possible. Once all discounted rooms have sold out, you'll have to pay the regular rate.

The nearest airport is San Jose International Airport (SJC), which is only 6.2 miles away from the convention center, about a 12 minute drive.

• Parking is free in the Santa Clara Convention Center Parking Garage.
• There are 1,500 parking spaces in the parking garage that has walking entry access to the convention center and the Hyatt Regency.
• Handicapped parking spots are located in front of the Santa Clara Convention Center.
• Overflow parking is located in surrounding lots based on availability.
• There are six EV Charging Stations at the Convention Center and 48 charging stations in the Tasman Parking Garage.
• We welcome all visitors and try to accommodate all travel needs. Parking is free and easily accessible; the third floor parking allows for direct building access into the Santa Clara Convention Center.

• Tasman and Convention Center Lightrail, Bus and Train.

We will have a fully-stocked food and concessions stand right on the show floor with food and drinks available for purchase during the event, directly behind the main stage. There will be a variety of food available, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. You won't have to leave the show to grab food and miss valuable time!

Shortboxed LIVE isn't like every other comic book convention - it's a community celebration of comic books and art, so we designed the show floor in a way that fosters community and engagement. No grocery store aisles or maze-like layouts. We call it the Town Square, and you can see why.

• Dealers are lined around the outer edges of the floor, so every dealer can be seen clearly from anywhere on the floor - you won't be running up and down aisles trying to find that one booth. This also makes it more equitable for all the dealers, since there is no "best spot."
• Artists and creators are right in the middle of the floor, where they should be - not crammed in the back or far corner.
• The Main Stage is front and center, where you can pull up a seat or watch from afar. You won't have to plan your day around being in a different room and missing out, since everything is in plain view.
• Tables and chairs - simple right? Yet so many cons don't even provide attendees with a place to sit down and eat, take a breather, or just have a chat with other collectors and show off your hauls.
