About this Event
We are ecstatic to celebrate the 3 year anniversary of Short Reads with reading in collaboration with Autumn House Press! The anniversary party will feature readings by Robert Yune, M.S. Reagan, Hallie Pritts, and Ren Cedar Fuller.
Short Reads is a free literary magazine emailed every Wednesday morning featuring flash nonfiction.
Each edition of Short Reads is a snack in your inbox, an invitation to take a little break but not to open yet another tab in your browser. The world throws a lot of information and noise at us, a lot of the time, and flash can be an antidote for that: a brief time-out that can take you out of yourself.
Short Reads showcases a mix of original essays and previously published pieces—work that appeared only in print or in now-defunct publications. Short Reads hopes the work they feature will make you think about something a little differently or see the world through fresh eyes and come back changed.
ROBERT YUNE’s fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Pleiades, The Kenyon Review, and The Los Angeles Review, among others. His debut story collection, Impossible Children, was published in 2019 by Sarabande Books. He lives in West Virginia. You can find more information at robertyune.com.
M. S. REAGAN, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a writer and MFA candidate at WVU in Morgantown, West Virginia, where they are working on a memoir about being trans and disabled during the first Trump presidency. Reagan’s poetry appears in Appalachian Review, and they won the Baltimore Review Summer 2025 Flash CNF Award. In 2024, Reagan was a finalist for the New Ohio Review Literary Award in Creative Nonfiction. Follow them @m-s-reagan.bsky.social.
HALLIE PRITTS is a Sewanee Writers’ Conference alum, Chautauqua Writers Conference fellow, former artist-in-residence in New Zealand, and finalist for the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize. Her work has appeared in McSweeney’s, The Missouri Review, LitMag, Off Assignment, and others. She’s working on a thriller.
REN CEDAR FULLER is the author of Bigger: Essays, winner of the Autumn House Press Nonfiction Prize. She also won Under the Sun’s Summer Writing Contest, and her essays have appeared in HerStry, Hippocampus, New England Review, North American Review, and Under the Sun. Cedar Fuller teaches parent education around Seattle and facilitates parent meetings at TransFamilies, an online support hub for families with gender-diverse children.
