Alec is working on a compelling documentary aimed at both youth sailors, children and adults, highlighting:
- The significance of traditional Pacific sailing and navigation and connections lost to promote sailing / exploration.
- Anthropological insights into ancient sailing cultures and the connections leading from the Pacific and recently all the way to Torres Strait.
- Marine life studies from various ports, particularly throughout the Pacific Ocean and will show some encounters heading to Australian waters.
As part of his journey, he also carries a replica traditional balsa wood sailing raft (currently located aboard his S/V Manu), he has been using as an educational tool to promote awareness of early seafaring technologies and sustainable navigation practices. But can be seen from his S/V only. Sadly, Biosecurity won't let the raft disembark. But it can be seen on board the yacht if you sail by.
Additionally, he has shared an e-book titled Connecting Lines (Atando Cabos) which accompanies the project and explores the connections between ancient navigation and modern conservation efforts.
He is the captain of this expedition and carries the Peruvian brand ambassador and trainer of his 19yr year old son who became last year: the youth 2024 world champion of international lighting class too.
Thursday, 2nd of October we invite sailors and water lovers to watch the documentary just produced last year; (that will be sent to film festivals soon).
