Aim:
To equip professionals with the skills, knowledge and confidence to effectively address sexual health issues with young people, including those that are vulnerable.
To enable professionals to provide and promote high quality sexual health services and to support young people, in line with best practice.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of training participants will be able to:
-Identify issues affecting the sexual health of young people in Newham and understand what is considered as ‘vulnerable’’
-Understand how attitudes and values relating to young people and sexual health can impact on professional practice
-Describe key laws which are relevant to sex and young people
-Understand the rights of young people when accessing support services
-Identify the most common contraceptives used and the most common sexually transmitted infections
-Give a condom demonstration
-Identify local sexual health services and know when to refer young people to them.
