Parasol Patrol is honored to help shield children from vocal protesters at Miss Shirley's Drag Queen Story Time at BookBar in Denver Colorado. We need your help welcoming guests and escorting them past potential protesters while providing hearing protection for those who request them.. Our volunteers and community members will use umbrellas to create a visual barrier and walk audience members to the door of the venue. The organizers are calling for attendees to dress colorfully and festive.Bring your umbrellas and meet at BookBar no later than 4:00 p.m. for a brief overview before kids begin to arrive. Be prepared to be live streamed and recorded by protesters. There will be NO SPEAKING or COUNTER ARGUMENTS with people from hate groups no matter what they may say to provoke children or ourselves. There will be love and support offered to these kiddos in order that they have a safe place to read and have fun.
We strongly suggest you carpool or use a Lyft or other rideshare service so the kids and their families have a place to park safely.
Please come stand in solidarity as Parasol Patrol and show the kids that we support them.
