This is the original event that inspired the birth of Parasol Patrol! Mile High Comics Talent For All Ages Show!We had a couple protesters for the October show and expect their numbers to grow as time goes on once again. We will be there to welcome our entertainers and guests regardless of interference from protesters.
In order to stay in line with event guidelines we are requiring proof of vaccination or negative test (previous 72 hrs) in order to volunteer in addition to wearing a mask while inside or while within 6ft of others outside. If we do encounter protesters we highly recommend wearing a mask for your safety.
We intend to shield performers, their families and audience members from potential vocal protesters outside the event and to stand in peaceful, silent protest. We will help kids with ear protection to muffle the taunts of the protesters as well as hold up our umbrellas to create a visual barrier while we walk people to and from their cars into the venue.
Please bring your colorful umbrella and meet at Mile High Comics no later than 4:15 p.m. for a brief overview before kids begin to arrive. (If you don't have one, no worries, we have extra!) Be prepared to be live streamed and recorded by protesters. There will be NO SPEAKING or COUNTER ARGUMENTS with people from these hate groups no matter what vile insults they hurl at the children or ourselves. There will be love and support offered to these young people in order that they have a safe place to express their creativity and talents.
We are limiting the numbers of volunteers to this event. YOU MUST SIGN UP! In order to prevent online trolls from filling the spaces, the link will be in the private @Parasol Patrol Colorado Chat group. You must be a member of the Colorado Chat to sign in to participate. So please join the group, we can't wait to meet you! You will need to bring a photo ID that matches your signup online to the event. This is also a mandatory masked event. Lastly, if you are staying for the 5 p.m. start show, bring your $5 cover. This is a charity event with proceeds being donated to the White Rose Charity Scholarship.
We strongly suggest you use a Lyft or other rideshare service. If not, please utilize street parking so the performers have a place to park where we may better shield them.
