Shibori on Silk: Henna Dye Workshop-beginner friendly

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Shibori, a Japanese fabric dyeing technique where cloth is folded, gathered, or stitched before being dyed to create patterns.

Instead of applying a design directly onto the fabric, Shibori works by shaping the fabric first. The way the fabric is stitched and gathered affects how the dye is absorbed, creating unique and often unexpected results when it is opened.

In this workshop, each participant will work with a pre-made silk scarf. Through simple hand-stitching techniques, they will shape the fabric to create their own pattern, then dye it using henna, a natural plant-based dye.

By the end of the session, participants will wash, reveal, and dry their piece, leaving with a finished silk scarf that reflects their own design.

No prior experience is required.
