A hands-on, clothed workshop for learning to connect techniques into flowing, intentional rope sequences that emphasize rhythm
About this Event

Ready to move beyond the basics? Shibari 102 is designed for those who want to explore how rope transforms from isolated technique into a more intentional, connected experience. In this class, you will learn how to build foundational harnesses, change body positioning, and begin linking ties into flowing sequences.

We’ll introduce patterns that create both structure and aesthetic form while focusing on transitions—how to move smoothly between ties without breaking presence. Shibari is not just about pattern—it’s about communication, connection, and intention. This class emphasizes how to feel the rope: developing rhythm, setting tension, and recognizing how subtle adjustments can shift the experience for both partners.

You will gain tools to adapt your practice to using different pacing and intentions—whether your focus is artistic expression, intimacy, playful exploration, or sadomasochistic pleasure. Whether you’re drawn to the visual beauty of rope, the quiet intensity of connection, or the creative freedom of building something together, this class invites you to deepen your practice—where technique becomes fluid, and rope becomes a language.

This is a clothed, hands-on workshop with no sexual activity. Participants are encouraged to bring a partner, though solo attendees are welcome.

Prerequisite: Ability to tie a single column

About your Instructor: Halliard is a seasoned bondage practitioner with over 5 years of experience in various forms of restraint and suspension. Their journey into bondage began with their partner, who introduced them to the art of Shibari as a form of therapy to help her reclaim her bodily autonomy after a traumatic experience. She affectionately calls it her "rope hug," and it has been a powerful tool for healing from past traumas and forming deep connection in their relationship. Halliard has dedicated themselves to mastering various forms of bondage, including floor and bedroom bondage, suspension, and self-suspension. They learned how to suspend their partner at Studio Friction and have also taken a weekend intensive with Shay Tiziano, author of "Tying and Flying: Bondage for Self-Suspension," to learn how suspension feels before they entrusted themselves with their partner’s life using rope. In addition to their personal practice, Halliard is actively involved in the BDSM community. They currently serve as the Dungeon Master for Femdomonium: Celebrating Femdoms, Service & BDSM at the Denver Sanctuary, where they help create a safe and welcoming space for kinksters to explore their desires. They have also been a board member for the Left of the Slash Intensive Weekend for the past two years and are proud to be the Build 2nd to the director of the build crew for the 2025 Guild of Deviated Standards BDSM convention. Halliard also manages the 2nd and 4th Wednesday Rope Labs at Studio Friction. With their experience and knowledge, Halliard is both well-equipped and excited to share their expertise with others and help them navigate the world of bedroom bondage!

All of our classes are intended for people 18 years of age and older. Spaces are VERY limited for this class, so reserve your spot now!
