she's green
Likened to a soft summer rain, she’s green is a Minneapolis-based dream-inducer composed of vocalist Zofia Smith, guitarists Liam Armstrong and Raines Lucas, bassist Teddy Nordvold, and drummer Kevin Seebeck. The band has played many shows throughout the Midwest and East Coast, sharing bills with acts such as Hotline TNT, Glixen, Friko, and more. The Star Tribune recommends bringing “earplugs and maybe a tissue for their set.” They initially received recognition through their first two released singles, “river” and “smile again”, both recorded and mixed at home. A raw emotional intensity shines through their honest and explorative songwriting process. After the release of their debut EP Wisteria, they were named one of First Avenue’s Best New Bands of 2023. In April of 2024, they got the most votes from industry professionals for MPR station The Current’s first annual Scouting Report Poll of the top rising artists in Minnesota.
Prize Horse
Minneapolis’ Prize Horse make “a fuzzy, dreamy form of alt-rock that manages to be heavy and spaced-out at the same time” (Stereogum). The trio’s debut album, Under Sound, embarks their musical evolution which takes flight with ethereal, fuzz-laden tones departing from the grittier layers of their previous 2021 Welder EP.
Allergen
ALLERGEN is an alternative rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota fronted by Shannon Maroney. A project that has changed and expanded as Maroney has matured, their current lineup features Mia Pariseau on bass & Sage Livergood on drums. With choral & orchestral roots, Allergen finds multiple outlets of melody, with moving vocal, guitar, and bass lines. Allergen’s debut EP, “Honesty Hour” (which featured Ev Speers on guitar, James Flanders on bass, and Anna Shenehon on drums), was released in May 2020 after being produced with Claire Altendahl (boyish). These early foundations helped Maroney further curate what would become their current musical sound, something only found with age and experience. With vulnerable lyrics contrasting with distorted guitars, local music blog Ear Coffee describes Allergen’s released music “feels like a private conversation being broadcast to the world”. Following singles “Dirt” and “No Rest”, and most recently, “Feed the Beast” that featured Pariseau and Shenehon, Allergen has brought along the mind of Abe Anderson to produce their current, crunchier sound. That being said, Allergen is working with only the future in mind, excited to create more music that is more reflective of their current selves, feeling boundless.
