This tour is led by Tour Guide Pat Brown.

Pat has been a Tour Guide for DayTripper Tours since 2009. Traveling to new places and planning vacations has been a part of her life since going on yearly vacations with her family growing up in Maryland. You may recognize Pat – every weeknight from April 2011-May 2015 she was your chief weather anchor on ABC 10 News, KGTV San Diego. Previously, Pat was NBC 7/39’s main weather anchor, KYXY radio’s morning D.J. and KFMB Channel 8’s “PM Magazine” co-host. Over the “PM” years, Pat traveled from the rainforests of Australia to the Alps of Austria. Closer to home, she scuba dived with sharks and flew supersonic in a Navy F-14 fighter jet, earning five Emmy Awards along the way. Prior to San Diego, Pat co-hosted “PM Magazine” at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, Minn. and at WDTN-TV in Dayton, Ohio. Before breaking into television, Pat worked at The Washington Post while earning her degree in Communications from American University in Washington, D.C. She is also a credentialed teacher and taught fifth grade in Solana Beach. In the San Diego community, Pat is a trustee emeritus of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, serves on the Alzheimer’s San Diego Community Action Committee, and the Burn Institute Advisory Board, She has been honored with the Leadership Award by National University and named “Health Hero” by Combined Health Agencies for her volunteer work with MS and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Pat has airtime that has nothing to do with television: she has soloed a single-engine airplane, piloted a blimp and a sail plane, run off a cliff in a hang glider, ridden in hot air balloons and helicopters, and endured aerobatics in an open-cockpit bi-plane. Don’t forget sky diving. In her free time, Pat loves reading, traveling, cooking, photography and exploring history. Ice skating and roller blading top her sporting interests, with scuba diving not far behind. Life is an adventure to Pat. “I’m so blessed to have the chance to do so many different things and to have the love of my friends and family,” she says. “That combination is unbeatable!”

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITY**

The health and safety of our passengers and crew are our first priority, and the DayTripper Tours COVID safety protocols are guided by science and the latest CDC recommendations. We anticipate current restrictions will gradually ease in the months ahead; however, as of this writing, below is what you can expect. Since you are the booking client, it is vital that you share this information with each traveling companion on your reservation.

WHAT WE'RE DOING TO HELP PROTECT YOU

  • All travelers should be fully vaccinated before traveling with us.*
  • Coaches will be at reduced capacity. We will operate our standard full-size motor coaches with lowered capacity and staggered seating to accommodate distancing. Couples and small groups traveling together will be seated together. (Please note: Seating capacity for your tour may increase if conditions improve and restrictions are lifted.)
  • Masks will be required at all times while on the coach except when eating or drinking. For safety reasons our snack and beverage service on the coach has been suspended for the time being; however, you may bring your own.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the doorway steps and upon request.
  • Tour guides will be fully vaccinated and will wear a face covering onboard the coach.

WHAT THE BUS COMPANY IS DOING TO HELP PROTECT YOU

  • All motor coaches have been fitted with highest efficiency MERV-13 ventilation filters.
  • A thorough disinfecting regimen is completed with electrostatic spraying prior to each trip.
  • Safe, hospital-grade Vital Oxide is used along with common disinfectants to sterilize touch surfaces.
  • Drivers must pass a temperature screening prior to each shift.
  • Drivers wear a face mask at all times onboard the coach and an acrylic safety barrier separates the driver from passengers. The first row of seating behind the driver will remain unoccupied throughout each trip.
  • Touch surfaces throughout the coach are disinfected each time passengers get off the bus.
  • Hand sanitizer is available upon request.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS

Again, the health and well-being of our passengers and crew is our highest priority, and we’ll do our part to help keep you safe. But we need your participation, too, and ask for your cooperation in our efforts to help keep you and others safe:**

  • Postpone traveling with us until you are fully vaccinated.
  • Wear a face covering at all times while on the coach except when eating or drinking.
  • Occupy only the coach seat assigned to you in order to maintain distancing.
  • Carry a personal hand sanitizer with you and use it often.

*Currently, there is no standardized, foolproof credential proving a person has been vaccinated, so we are unable to implement a verification process at this time. Meanwhile, we kindly ask that you avoid traveling with us until after you are fully vaccinated, and if you are unable to adhere to established safety protocols throughout the duration of a tour, please avoid traveling with us until after the pandemic has officially ended. DayTripper’s virtual tour library will remain a fun alternative for those not yet ready to travel.

**Similar to an airline crew, the tour guide and driver are the ultimate authority onboard a tour bus and guests who fail to comply with established protocols and instructions can be expelled from the tour and will be responsible for securing their own transportation home at their own expense. In such a case, the tour would be non-refundable and the traveler(s) would be unable to travel with DayTripper Tours in the future.
